In general, it alters the environment, causing areas that are usually fertile to become arid. By reducing the amount of forests, the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere is altered, since forests, through photosynthesis, are major producers of this gas. When the phytosphere changes, the fauna also changes, since they need plants to survive, in many cases. Alterations are produced in the climate, since forests are regulators of climate and rainfall, causing the disappearance of the flora, the washing of the land and the appearance of floods, with landslides, decrease in rainfall or alteration of the water cycle on the earth's surface.
